Student Teaching

Portland Maine Public Schools is where I did my student teaching during the spring term of my masters program. At East End Community School I taught art to kindergarten to 5th grade and at Lyman Moore Middle School I taught a general art class and a sculpture elective to 8th grade. In addition I taught an art class to the special needs Breathe students at Lyman Moore every Wednesday.

Field Work

During the fall term the MECA MAT program partnered with several affiliates of the Portland art community. We did a gallery talk for the Breakwater School 7th graders with the Portland Museum of Art. We collaborated with the SPACE Gallery to make shadow puppets for Mix Tape, a parent/child dance party. We also worked together with Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS) and the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) to make art in response to their show, Design Inquiry.

Engineering and Science University Magnet School

At ESUMS I taught the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art elective in West Haven, Connecticut. My curriculum always included a variety of mediums and we constantly sought to make art relevant and visible in the school. The annual task for the art department was to curate a mini gallery at the end of year event, the Celebration of Learning.
